Leaving your job to make $141,000 in 4 days
Let me show you how
Read time: 4mins
Jobs can be comfortable… even if you hate them. We get lulled into sticking with them because they are easy.
You get told what to do, you put just enough effort into doing those things so that you don’t get fired, and then you receive a paycheck every week or two automatically in your account.
Even if you don’t like the job, it’s easy to just keep doing it.
Humans, like water, want to take the path of least resistance.
But there is a better way. Let’s dig into it.
Before we get into it let me give a quick thank you to our sponsors who help keep this newsletter 100% free to you, the reader:
If you are like me, then you are either a small business owner or you would like to start your own business one day. And when you do that, you’re going to NEED a great banking solution that’s truly built just for your business. That means, no fees, no minimum balances, and no bookkeeping problems when tax season rolls around. Relay is an online banking and money management platform that’s a perfect fit for small businesses and one I recommend. AND you can now earn up to 3% APY on savings with Relay savings accounts.
It only takes 10 minutes to apply for a free Relay account, and you can do it online at RelayFi.com
The idea that I should keep doing a job (or anything really) that I don’t really like just because it’s easy or it works has never sat well with me.
With a 9-5 job, you spend a HUGE part of your awake life doing it.
So why would I want to spend most of my waking hours doing something I’m not excited about?
I recently met Kieran Drew on Twitter. He was a Dentist making great money, but he had these same thoughts.
Even though from a financial point of view, he was doing great and was successful, he wasn’t satisfied.
So he took a massive leap and left his lucrative career to do his own thing.
He wanted to write online.
He dedicated himself to the craft, built up a following online, and built a very successful online brand around his writing.
So much so, that he has had massive wins like his recent launch of a new product where he made $141,000 in just 4 days.
Now I’m not saying you should quit your job to write online (unless you want to!). I’m suggesting you should question why you are doing what you are doing if you don’t feel satisfaction doing it.
Then, you should explore what you COULD be doing with that time that might be more fulfilling and maybe even make you way more money.
Maybe it IS online writing. Or maybe it’s starting a power washing company, or creating a cool tech accessory to sell online, or finally picking up a camera to try photography, or becoming a Twitch streamer who exclusively streams The Sims and constantly boxes them off in rooms without doors all day. It could be ANYthing.
I used to think making $100,000 per year from my job was the best thing I could do.
After all, how could I possibly want MORE than that?
Like many people, I fell victim to thinking too small and getting too comfortable doing something I didn’t really love.
So I left my job and started a small business. I grew that business to making $150-200K a year.
Then I decided after a decade, I didn’t love doing that anymore, so I started this whole online content journey with YouTube, Twitter, etc.
That journey has led me to making just under half a million dollars last year.
Maybe this whole internet thing isn’t half bad???
The money is great, and I want to keep chasing that so I can reach financial independence as soon as possible, but I am also way more fulfilled. I am chasing a career that’s engaging and exciting and gives me the lifestyle I want.
So, if you are still reading (hello), here is my challenge to you:
Stop and think. Are you really satisfied with what you are doing and where you are?
If not, take some time to start thinking about why. And start thinking about what you would do to fix it.
Then make a plan.
It could be the start of something great.
BTW, if you want to hear more about Kieran’s story, you should watch my latest podcast episode where I interview him. It’s FULL of crazy valuable information.
See you next week!
